Oh, Christmas tree! Oh, Christmas tree!

Last weekend, I took my clients for a stroll around the tree farm for their portrait session. We had a fun time running in and out and down the rows of trees. We even stepped in the woods to play in some leaves and climb on some downed tree limbs - nature's jungle gym!

During our hike back we stopped to gaze at the moon, and I snapped this beauty!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

... well, at least with Ona Lucia! We've been busy Santa's helpers getting out holiday cards, and prints in preparation for this joyous season. Nothing captures the spirit of Christmas like the precious moments and smiles of families that will be in their hearts and homes for years to come.

Though we have been super busy, there is still time (and appointments) left to get your holiday portrait session in!! Don't hesitate! Have your portrait hanging above your mantle in time for Santa's visit!

Jakey & Cousins!

The week after I photographed Jakey for his solo portraits, his Ima (Grandma) wanted to get all the cousins together for her Christmas card. We did both solos with all kids as well as group shots. I'll just share one from the session with you, since there are too many cute ones to choose from!

Jakey

Last weekend I photographed Jakey. I've been photographing him since he was just a few months old, and now he's three years old! I love watching him grow up and seeing his personality develop -- he is such a sweetheart. It is crazy how fast time flies and how big he has gotten.

We had so much fun during his session. We ran around the yard, played & jumped in the leaves, and even had chocolate chip brownies when we were done! Jakey was such a good boy & great listener!

This weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph Jakey and his 4 older cousins... that blog to come later. So, for now enjoy these couple gems from Jakey's solo session. :-)

Ok, back to summer...

To close out summer, I went to the beach with my lovely friend, Aleksa. She had asked me awhile ago if I would be able to take her portrait before she went off on her cross-Atlantic row. Her and her crew will be trying to set a new record of 3000 miles in under 33 days. She will be using this opportunity to raise awareness and funds for 9/11 responders. For her session we went to her favorite spot, the beach & lighthouse at Fire Island. We decided to do take some portraits in and up-top of the lighthouse. As we were climbing up the spiral stairs, we would stop at windows and different spots to snap some frames. By the time we got to the last ladder up, I felt the wind blowing into the lighthouse, and my knees started to shake. This whole time, I had forgotten my fear of heights. Too late now. After bracing myself for a few minutes, I joined Ale outside the top of the lighthouse. The wind was fierce, and I clutched the camera and walls of the lighthouse for dear life, but we managed to get some amazing shots; plus take in a breathtaking view! (I didn't find out until we got back down to the ground that Ale thought I was faking my fear. My knees didn't stop shaking until a good half hour after coming back down.)

Ale, I hope you enjoy your portraits. I wish you and your crew a safe, speedy row and I know that you all will break the record! I will keep you in my prayers as you go on your journey!

Secrest Family

So, I'm going a little out of order here & posting a fall session blog before my last summer session blog. Fall is definitely my favorite season: the weather, the colors, my birthday. Hands down the perfect season! I also love it because it is my favorite time to do family and children portraits. It's getting close to Thanksgiving and Christmas and there is nothing more comforting to my heart than getting families together and snapping those frames that will grace their holiday card and be the next framed portrait on their walls.

The first weekend of October, Sean & I trekked up to Southern Vermont to photograph the Secrest family. It was an absolutely picture perfect Vermont fall day, complete with home-made, fresh out of the oven, apple crisp! (Thanks, Kerry!)

Gah! I'm behind in blogging!

So, after the Canon Expo, I hopped in my car and braved Hurricane Earl to get to Rhode Island for an engagement session with my best friend from high school, Kristi and her fiance, Gary (and their boxer puppy, Dexter!). Though Earl for us was merely strong rain and winds at night, the day of the session was absolutely gorgeous and would have been perfect if the wind wasn't trying to knock us off the rocks at Beavertail. I had such a blast spending all day with them, and I don't think there was one moment where we weren't joking or laughing! Can't wait for our next get together!

Canon Expo 2010

This has been quite the whirlwind of the past couple weeks! There are more days I've spent shooting than editing, and need to be playing catch-up on some sessions!

This past Friday (Septemeber 3, 2010), I was fortunate to attend Canon's 2010 Expo. Thanks to my friend, Alice, at Canon, I was able to get a pass to this event that happens only every 5 years. It was great seeing all my Canon friends & colleagues and catch up with the years that passed since I worked there. It was exciting to see all the new products, and more so to test them out! There was a mock runway shoot with different Explorers of Light giving tips of the trade. During the times I shot, Robert Farber was the main photographer. I also attended two seminars, one with Steven Poster and the other with Douglas Kirkland. Both were very inspiring. This was the 4th time I have seen Kirkland, and his spirit, energy, and passion always move me.

So again, a BIG THANKS to Alice, Canon & everyone that made my Expo experience a memorable one, and quenching my thirst for a creative and technical boost.

Penobscot Bay Inn & Belfast, ME

This past weekend Ona Lucia traveled up to Maine! We were first time visitors & it was love at first sight! We were up to photograph the Penobscot Bay Inn and take in the beauty of the area and town (Belfast, ME) that surrounded us.

Sean & I cannot say enough how wonderful of a stay we had there, not just because we were photographing it, but because the Inn and all it's staff make you feel like it was a home away from home. The feel of the entire weekend was that of total relaxation. The weather: perfect. The food: mouth-watering. The sites: breathtaking.

Hopefully, the pictures you see here (with more to come) will make you sigh with happiness (as they do for me), and decide to experience your own stay.

Laura & Paul

On my way back from vacationing in the Outer Banks, I stopped in Baltimore to do Laura & Paul's session. As all my summer sessions have been this summer, theirs too ended up on a scorching, hot city day but we all managed to smile through the sweat & got great shots! Who knew a 7-11 parking lot would make for a great location? (red brick wall w/ yellow curb)

I've known Laura for 20 years... (yeah, I did the math, scary huh?) and I cannot wait until her & Paul's wedding this January. Hopefully it will be a little cooler than this past weekend. ;-) Though I won't be behind the camera, I will be standing beside Laura as a bridesmaid and cannot be more happier to be there to help celebrate her & Paul's love for each other.

Ari's Secret Garden

During this monstrous heat-wave we've been having here in the Northeast, Mother Nature finally decided to give us a break and it just so happened to be on the day of Ari-Anna's portrait session at Elizabeth Park. This little lady kept me on my toes the whole session, but Mom, Ari & I all had fun playing around the flowers and running through the different paths.

Juliana

Today, I photographed my friend's niece, Juliana. The first time I met Juliana she was only around nine or ten, and now she is a beautiful young lady about to go into her 2nd year of college. My how time flies!

Here are some pictures of the session I had with her at a horse farm in Hebron. (Sorry! I forgot the name!) The two horses pictured are Bentley & Willy. We took a number of different shots with various ponies and horses, but these were the best behaved. (Juliana did pretty well, too ;-))

I have had this blog for about three years but never posted to it! Better late than never? And, who better to showcase than my dear friend, Kristina & her fiance, Algis.

Here are a couple shots from our shoot in Brooklyn, mainly around DUMBO. It was a hot day, but we had such an amazing time, in an amazing city!
